Panel: Foundations of Success: Data, Dialogue, Education

66th Annual National Conference on Citizenship

September 23, 2011
NCoC believes that everyone has a contribution to make when it comes to building prosperous communities. The key to community vitality is developing strategies that uncover information about our challenges and use this data to unlock opportunities for engagement. These strategies are only effective when all who care about public life are engaged in the process.

The first step in creating a civic strategy is to collect information that identifies strengths and weaknesses. Then, there must be an opportunity to share and discuss what that information means to all types of community stakeholders. Diverse groups of individuals and institutions must be engaged in the process to ensure all voices are heard.

This panel at the 66th Annual National Conference on Citizenship features Lucia Howard of OConnor House, Valeriano Ramos of Everyday Democracy, Michael Stout of Missouri State University, and Trish Tchume, formerly of Building Movement Project and now Young Nonprofit Professionals Network. It was moderated by Michael Weiser of NCoC.
