NCOC Featured Discussion
Thanks to our partners and supporters, NCoC has experienced exponential growth in the last several years. We have expanded our leadership and our programming in order to explore what creates a more active and engaged citizenry. As a 66 year-old institution, we want to remain true to the tenants of our historic founding, but also explore what modern citizenship looks like in a 21st century democracy. In accordance with this growth, we recently underwent a strategic communications process, which allowed us to explore our values, unique assets, and our journey.
In this process, we discovered the ability of one of our most unique assets to tell one of our most interesting stories—our Congressional charter. Some of history’s greatest explorers were chartered by a government to explore something—to go on a journey and report back about what they found. By embracing our “inner explorer,” NCoC demonstrates our commitment to being on the forefront of our nation’s civic life and generating new approaches to creating civic health.
This exploration process has also generated a new organizational logo, intended to convey our journey of discovery, growth, opportunity, and American ideals. The use of our acronym, NCoC, communicates the expansion of our work beyond our Annual Conference, and our commitment to ongoing collaboration and collective civic progress. In addition to our programming, we facilitate thought leader working groups, and leverage social media platforms to share our discoveries, energize discussions, and stimulate new approaches that strengthen modern citizenship. At the National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC), we believe everyone has the power to make a difference in how their community and country thrive. This enables us, as well as our cross-sector network of partners, to enhance the prosperity and civic vitality of our local communities and our nation as a whole.
