Civic100![]() Corporate responsibility has become a key driver in securing stakeholder interest, consumer trust, and employee loyalty. Additionally, with increased employee demand for a socially-minded workforce, businesses are recognizing the importance of civic responsibility in recruiting and retaining talent. The National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC), the only organization chartered by Congress with the mission to encourage more active citizenship, is behind development of the Civic 100, a nationwide initiative to survey, rank and honor corporations which demonstrate leadership and investment in civic engagement. Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, trust and motivation among people to give back and make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through a variety of civic actions and processes. Civic 100 Values: • The business sector plays a critical role in helping create a more engaged citizenry. • Working in partnership with government, NGOs, and citizens, corporations should help solve social problems by focusing their civic engagement programs (CEP) on effectively contributing the expertise and resources of their business and employees. • A corporate culture of civic engagement is institutionalized when a business aligns the social benefits of their CEP to their underlying business competencies.
